Platform
The Bee Thing platform manages apiaries, colonies, scales, and received measurements.
Bee Thing is built around a simple idea: software should make beekeeping monitoring easier without locking users into specific hardware.
Values
- Open hardware. You should be able to connect hardware you chose, built, or adapted, as long as it can send measurements to Bee Thing.
- Economic accessibility. Bee Thing aims to remain by far the most affordable way to monitor instrumented colonies.
- Simplicity. Hobbyists and small users should be able to get started without unnecessary complexity.
- Progressive depth. Professional operations should still have room for more advanced workflows.
- Useful technology. Clear interfaces, readable data, and detection algorithms should reduce manual work instead of adding another layer of complexity.
Pricing
The exact pricing model is not final yet. Two principles are already set:
- there will be a free plan with no time limit;
- that free plan will include at least 5 active measured colonies.
Paid plans will aim to stay as inexpensive as possible, with tiers targeting no more than €5 per active measured colony per year.
What the Platform Covers
- organize apiaries;
- track colonies;
- connect and manage scales;
- view measurements;
- diagnose messages received from scales.
What Will Evolve
The dashboard and analysis views will evolve with detection algorithms and more business-oriented indicators.
